Why shouldn't we sin if we are forgiven ?
As I go through this journey called life, there comes a time that
Holy Spirit prompts us; we come to the realization that there is a God that
loved us before we ever knew ourselves and he is offering us an awesome gift,
that being eternal life. Some of us have grown up in homes that we have been
exposed to God early on and then there are some that did not get introduced to
Him until we were teenagers and/or even an adult. No matter when we meet him,
the offer is the same, now that you acknowledge me, will you accept me, will
you confess that I am your Lord and Savior and do you believe that I am
currently sitting on the right hand of the Father making intercession for you.
Once we have accepted this free gift our assignment is to worship him, to learn
of Him, and be obedient to his will; but what if we sin again ? Do we lose our
salvation? And if not, why not continue to sin if we are forgiven?
Let's keep it real, sin felt good; that's why we stayed in
it for such a long time !!!
I know that I am saved, God’s word has promised me that, but; I
still have the desire to sin and occasionally I still do. I can still remember
how good it felt to lie, cheat, and have premarital and adulterous sex; it felt
good to gossip and sleeping around while receiving expensive gifts and feeling
important; why should we not sin if we are forgiven ?
Because now we don't want to !!!
The minute we become saved something happens, there is an actual
change in our spirit man that also affects our physical man, at the very moment
we accept Christ, we are born again and we have a helper. We may still be in
the same environment but know something is different, we may even be able to do
some of the same things, but we are hesitate to do them and if we make the
choice to do them, we feel different while doing them; there has been a change,
a transformation in the spirit realm concerning you. We may find ourselves in
the dope house and all of a sudden you have to get out, you may even be in the
very act of committing fornication and or adultery and you can't continue with
the act, your girlfriend has called and wants to gossip, you don't answer the
phone; with the help of Holy Spirit you are being transformed. I thought I was
going crazy, as I began to talk to God and study His word, He imparted his will
in me, I could no longer do the things that were common to me, sin had no place
in my life and if I committed sin it was like an upset stomach, it didn't sit
right with me, I was spiritually nauseated to the point that I had to throw up.
We must run to the bathroom of God and throw up our sin through repentance
because if sin is allowed to stay in our systems too long it will become cancerous
and fester throughout our bodies; there are consequences to sin !!!
So why should we not sin if we are forgiven, because there
are consequences to sin. You may be asked this question, how will you answer ?
