Good morning and Happy Thursday VKMI family. Most of you do not know what I do for a living so I will share today. I work as a security officer for Hillshire Brands corporate office here in Chicago. At my job in order for any one to get in there are turnstiles that must be access for any one to gain entry into the building. The turnstiles separate the employees from the random person or visitor off of the street. Unless access is given by the receptionist or any security staff no one, including Al Roker can enter the building. As people of faith we have a way to access God to receive the many things we have for us. We must P.R.A.Y.
In the Word of God to pray is seen all over. Prayer is a scriptural sacrifice and the fruit of our lips ( Hebrews 13:15 ). A lifting our soul to God ( Psalms 25:1, 143, 8 ). Through prayer Christ makes intercession for us when we pray ( Isaiah 53:12, Hebrews 7:25, 1st Timothy 2:5-6 ). The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we pray ( Roman 8:26-27, Ephesian 6:18 ). For the purposes of this blog I am going to use the word PRAY as an acronym meaning that each letter will be used as a word to ensure that we know exactly what prayer is along with scriptural reference in the next three paragraphs.
In using the letter P in P.R.A.Y. I know that prayer is coming into his Presence. In Exodus 32:11-14 it tells of how Moses went into the presence of God after the people had forgotten about how God had blessed them ( verses 1-10 ). We as Christians have to get into God's presence if we are going to change the areas of religion and social media. In Isaiah 48:12-13 it speaks of coming into the presence of God. The 4th watch prayer time is one way to come into his presence.
In looking at the second letter in the word P.R.A.Y I go the word relationship. In 1st Samuel 8:6-9. In this passage the people wanted a king to reign over them so they could be like others in the world. Samuel when he prayed had a personal relationship with God so that God would not be angry with their request. As people of faith the areas of government, family and business can be changed if we have a relationship with God. In Jeremiah 32:6-15 he showed that having a relationship with God even though times are tough can change things. We have a 5am prayer time with Apostle H. Daniel Wilson that can strengthen our relationship with God.
The third letter in the word P.R.A.Y. is for Authority. In John 17:1-5 Jesus prays to God for authority. Jesus was sent by God to sacrifice his life to make us whole and also provide us everlasting life. We have as a people of faith authority to change how Christian arts and entertainment is viewed ( the Bible min-series was viewed by over 8 million people and 1/4 of them were non believers ) and education ( prayer is needed especially in school ). In 1st Peter 2:9-10 it speaks of how we are God's people. There is a Prayer Vigil every 2nd Friday here at the Valley that we can come to have authority that God has placed in our hands.
In concluding the acronym for P.R.A.Y. and using the letter Y it is going to stand for YOU. You have to want to get in the presence of God if you want your faith based blog or magazine to become successful or to see that religion idea ( Politically Funny Fridays is a great concept ) to take off. You have to have a relationship with God in order to change laws ( weed is legal in two states and the federal government will not oppose it ), to have the youth want to spend time with their families to learn their legacy and how the family came out of things, and to have that faith based business stay profitable. You have to have authority to have that play or movie to even make it to mainstream America or to get involved with your school boards to see what is going on. You have to pray for the lost souls and others ( James 5:16, 2nd Timothy 2:1 and Acts 8:24 ). You can join or help with finances, gas money or food when the churches go out to pray in the areas where crime is rampant or where they bring in the guns and drugs in at. P.R.A.Y.
