I'm A Survivor

Good morning and Happy Friday, As we are into the 23rd day of the month of January, at this time most of the goals we have set seem to be getting harder to maintain. Many of us are trying to lose weight by going to the gym or eating better. Some of us have started and continuing our education. And then there are others who are seeking to get closer to God by fasting, reading the Bible more and doing the work of the Lord. Just three weeks in some of us want to throw our hands up, even me. But I will tell you this, I am in this this for the long haul because I'm A Survivor.
In looking at the definition of the key word in this teaching, survivor, I go to my source of definitions and that is dictionary.com. Survivor means as follows; a person who continue to function or prosper
in spite of opposition, hardships or setbacks. In our lives there are going to things that will try to oppose us from functioning or hardships that try to prevent us from prospering or setbacks that come along the way. Even in my life all these things have happened, but I'm A Survivor.
As we go into the Word of God to begin this teaching of I'm A Survivor I begin in Genesis 45:1-8. In these verses Joseph finally reveals himself to his brothers which had cast him in a pit, then sold him
(Genesis 37:12-29). Joseph tells his brothers that he had to go through some things that God for his family to be able to survive. Opposition shall come in many forms to stop us from functioning but I'm A Survivor.

In looking at the next example of I'm A Survivor in the Word of God I go to 1st Samuel the 24th chapter. In this chapter Saul has pursued David and has finally caught up with him. But while in a
a cave Saul is not aware that David is there and has gotten so close to him that he could have killed him. But David knew that God had anointed David and only God could punish Saul. There are going to be hardships to use being able to prosper but let God pull us out, not man. I'm A Survivor.
As I come to end of the Biblical portion of this teaching I go to Acts 4:13-22. In this passage Peter and John have the chance to defend themselves in front of the Sanhedrin Council. They had been
arrested, a setback, for healing a man in the name of Jesus. The Council was amazed and shocked by their knowledge and willing to stand for what they knew to be true. There will be setbacks in our lives but that's okay, because I'm A Survivor.
In closing there are many of you that are survivors besides me. You have overcome health problems, addictions, family issues, homelessness, lack of incomes and loneliness. I applaud you all for being survivors. So as we continue this year fool the all by going to the gym year round or eating healthy. Stay true to the fasting that you will allow you to get closer to God. Be strong in your convictions on what you see as your goals and your dreams. Do not give up. You will make it. Like I Am, You are A Survivor as well. I give God all the honor and the glory for this teaching
