Just Thinking Out Loud

This article is based on my own puzzling thought, which is not a judgment or condemnation towards anyone, but just a question floating in my mind. I’m puzzled by this new fad of church “visiting”.

It’s no secret that I didn't grow up in church but one thing I understood before even becoming a believer is that “church folks” coveted their church.  There was no visiting or highlighting another church unless their pastor was going to minister there.

Once I got saved it was imprinted in my spirit that Jesus is the bridegroom, we are the bride, and the worship house is your home where you build and serve out your convent. It’s a sacred place where your marriage with Jesus receives instruction and where it can grow and flourish.

I believe every worship house has an assignment and the shepherd of that house has the anointing to speak and mature you to your specific assignment. Yeah there are numerous of anointed and powerful preachers that if you visited their worship you could receive a word but is that word attached to your assignment.

I’m not questioning why people go and visit another worship house every once in a while but why so often? Why go to your worship house this week and their worship house next week? Join their worship service without speaking to your shepherd and receiving their blessings. Why so many social accolades for that church or their pastor?

In reality it’s free advertising for that ministry. You never see the world do this. Pepsi is never on their site talking about Coke, Burger King is never praising McDonald’s. Android is never highlighting the CEO of Apple.

Ok maybe that’s extreme, but I needed to use that as an example to convey this puzzling question in my mind. If I weren't saved it would give me the illusion that they’re no required faithfulness to a specific worship house or the shepherd of that worship house.

I know someone reading this will say Sabrina’s being too deep. I tithe at my place of worship, so that’s shows my loyalty. I post just as many post about my worship as I do any other worship . It’s my site I can post what I want.

All of those statements are true.  But if your bride paid the bills at home and talked about you on their social site but visited another home and talked about another mate on their site just as much as they did you, would that be okay? Would you be trippin or too deep? It’s their site right?

The bigger question for me as a children’s pastor is what message does it send to your child/children?

“Train up a child in the way they should and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6
